Shakhtakhti is the motherland of great personalities

 

Javid, Huseyn Javid(pen name; name and second name Huseyn Resizade Abdulla; 24.10.1882, Nakhchivan - 5.12.1941, Russia, Irkutsk) - poet, playright. He was born in the family of famous religious figure Abdulla Resizade and got his primary education in mollachana (Moslem ecclessiastical school) in Nakhchivan. He wrote his first poems in classic style ”Gulchin” and “Salik”. From 1899 till 1903 he was in South Azerbaijan and continued his education in madrasa “Talibiyya” in Tabriz. In 1909 he graduated from Istanbul University the faculty of literature. Then he worked as a teacher in Nakhchivan, Ganja, Tiflis and after 1915 in Baku. Javid was one of masters who continued traditions of classic Azerbaijan literature and one of the founders of Azerbaijan romanticism.

Javid’s activity is reach from point of view of genre and form. He is the author of rhymes, lyric-epic poems, dramas and the first tragedy written in verse in Azerbaijan literature. His first book of poems “Past days” was published in 1913. In the first period of his activity he played much attention to social-political verse. In his poems ”Orphan Enver”, "The song of a shepherd”, ”Little wanderer”, ”Yesterday and today”, ”A woman” he described tragical life of toiler men in the society full of injustice. In his poem “Mesud and Shefiqe” he contrasts unbearable life of Baku minors and parasitic, luxurious life of owners.

Javid is very famous as a dramatist. His philosophical and historical tragedies, his dramas not only formed a new stage in the Azerbaijan literature, but also influenced development of our national theatre. The most general, social-political and cultural problems of that period were reflected in his dramas. In his play “Mother” he shows that nobility, devotion and frankness are qualities which belong only to poor people. In his lyric tragedy “Sheykh Sanan” he protests against religious distribution between nations. In 1926 he went to Germany for treatment and stayed in Berlin for a while. Coming back to his motherland he brought with himself a number of political-lyric and lyric-epic poems. Between the years 1920 and 1930 he wrote some historical dramas such as: ”Prophet”, ”Topal Teymur”, ”Seyavush”, ”kheyyam”.

His 100 and 110 years anniversary were celebrated. Memorial houses were built in Nakhchivan and Baku. During his 100 year anniversary his corpse was brought from Irkutsk to Nakhchivan. With the initiative of the president of the Azerbaijan Republic Heydar Aliyev an immence mausoleum was built on his grave. In 1982 “Huseyn Javid’s theatre” opened in Nakhchivan. There are a lot of streets , gardens, schools, libraries, cinemas named after him in Baku and Nakhchivan.

 

Javid Mishchinar Molla Huseyn (1902, Nakhchivan-16.11.1976, Baku) - Huseyn Javid’s wife. She was the first reader of Javid’s work and copied them. After Javid’s death she worked in textile atelier and she was driven out of her flat together with her children. But this brave woman underwent all these hard ships. A great part of her memories about Javid was printed and another part is now kept in Javid’s memorial flat in Baku. Her grave is next to Huseyn Javid’s grave.

 

Javid Turan Huseyn Javid (zerbaiTuran Javid) (2.10.1923, Baku) - Cultural worker. Azerbaijan Republic Honoured Cultural worker (1982), Huseyn Javid prise winner (1997). She is Huseyn Javid’s daughter. She finished the faculty of the drama study of the Azerbaijan State Theatre Institute (present University of Culture and Art). Then she worked at that university as a lecturer (1950-1983) and director (1968-1991). Since 1991 she has been director in Javid’s memorial house. She takes active part in the cultural life of our Republic. She is the designer of Javid’s books which were printed between the years 1958-1985.

 

Jafarov Mamed Abdulla (16.12.1926, Shakhtakhti village of the Kengerli region - 13.11.1997, Nakhchivan)- Socialist Labour Hero (1949). He worked as a brigadier and chairman in the collective farm in Nakhchivan, director in the tobacco growing farm in Sherur region between the years 1941- 1982. In 1982 he was the director in the Boyukduz horse growing complex in Babek region. He was selected the deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan USSR. He was decorated with the Order of Labour.

 

Ahmedov Shukur Ali (12.5.1926, Boyukduz village of the Babek region- 5.7.1970 there) – Socialist Labour Hero(1949). He worked as a herdsman in the collective farm named after K. Marks in Kengerli region, head of the veterinary station in Shakhtakhti, chairman, veterinarian in the plant named after H. Javid between the years 1940- 1970. In 1948 he showed high indicators in sheep- breeding.

 

 

Aliyev Tamerlan Aziz (3.10.1921, Shakhtakhti village of the Kengerli region – 1997, Baku) – doctor. Medical sciences doctor (1969), professor (1970).

Honoured Scientist of the Azerbaijan Republic (1985), State price-winner (1981). Azerbaijan State Medical University (1944), he worked in the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology and from 1945 till the end of his life he worked at the department of Internal diseases of the Medical University (in 1969 senior lecturer, between the years 1970-1990 professor and head of the department). He was the head therapist of The Ministry of Health.

He is the author of more than 250 scientific works on endocrinology and diagnostics, at the same time 12 monographs and textbooks. For the results of his scientific- methodic works he got the third Certificate of the department of the USSR State Comity on Scientific discoveries. He played great role in the scientific arrangement of cardiological service system in Azerbaijan. He represented Azerbaijan science in the USA, France, England, Germany and in other big countries. He was the chairman of the State Endocrinology Society, the head of the specialized council on thesis defence of the Azerbaijan State Medical University, head of the Attestation Commission of the Ministry of the Health on therapy. He was decorated with Honour order.

 

Aliyeva Zarifa Aziz (24.4.1923, Shakhtakhti village of the Kengerli region- 15.4.1985, Moskow) – Medical Sciences doctor (1979), professor (1979), Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (1983), Russian Medical Academy of Sciences (1981), Honoured Scientist of the Azerbaijan Republic (1980). She is A.M.Aliyev’s daughter, Heydar Aliyev’s wife. She graduated from the Azerbaijan State Medical University (1947). She worked as a scientist in the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Institute of Ophthalmology, and from 1969 as a senior lecturer of the Eye diseases department and between the years 1982-1985 as a head of the ophthalmology department of the Azerbaijan Doctor’s Perfection Institute. Zarifa Aliyeva played great role in the development of ophthalmology in Azerbaijan. She is one of the authors of research works dealing with the modern problems of ophthalmology, including “Therapeutic ophthalmology” and the author of 12 monographs, text-books, about 150 scientific works and 12 rationalization proposals. Her rich pedagogical, scientific and practical experience was reflected in her monograph “Urgent questions of ophthalmology”. This book is a unique aid for doctors and for the teachers of the additional training course. Aliyeva spent great efforts in training highly qualified doctors. She was the staff member of the Presidium of All-Union Ophthalmologists Society, Soviet Peace Defence Committee, the Administrative staff of the Azerbaijan Ophthalmology Society. She was rewarded M.I.Averbakh price of the USSR Academy of Sciences for her high scientific achievements (1981). In 1994 her grave was brought from the cemetery Novo-Devichye to Baku and was buried in Honorary Cemetery near her father’s grave. A bronze monument was erected on her grave. Eye diseases Institute in Baku and Nakhchivan city polyclinics were named after her.

 

Mahmudov Ahmed Ekber (25.5.1928, Shakhtakhti village of the Kengerli region - 8.5.1989, Baku, Honorary Cemetery) - economist. Doctor of economic sciences (1968), professor (1969), Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (1983). He graduated from the faculty of Accounting of the present Azerbaijan State University of Economy (1950) and faculty of Economy of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (1954). He was the scientist (1956-1958), deputy director (1958-1964) and director (1964-till the end of his life) in the Institute of Economy of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. He worked as an undersecretary of the department of History, Economy and Philosophy of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (1981-1985). He investigated t the economy of the political-economic and agrarian-industrial complexes, economic problems of the intensification of export, essence and theoretical basis of the intensification of agriculture in Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the system of indicators showing the level of intensification, it’s ways, source and peculiarities. He is the author of some books, monographs and about 150 scientific articles. He was the member of the State Awards Committee, candidate of science and doctor of the Institute of Economy of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Science (1976-1988). He played a great role in preparation of cadres. He was rewarded with the medals of the Exhibition of National Economic Achievements. He was decorated with the second grade order of the Patriotic War.

 

Ibrahimov Huseyn Mamedeli (23.5.1919, Shakh-takhti village of the Kengerli region) – Azerbaijan Republic people’s writer (1998). He graduated from the faculty of journalism of the Azerbaijan State University (present Baku State University) (1958). He began his career as a teacher at school in Sadarak in 1940. Then he was the first secretary of the committee of the Kengerli region (1941-1943), secretary of the Nakhchivan Province Committee (1943-1947), assistant of the editor of the newspaper “Sharq kapisi” (1947-1949), chairman of the Radio Programs Committee of the Council of the Ministers of the Nakhchivan ASSR (1954-1960), editor of the newspaper “Sharq kapisi” (1961-1965), head of the Propaganda and Agitation department of the Nakhchivan Province Committee (1965-1970), the Ministry of Culture in Nakhchivan ASSR (1970-1975).He was the senior secretary of the Nakhchivan department of the Azerbaijan Writers Union from 1980. He is the chairman of the Nakhchivan Writers Union at present. He is the author of the social historical and contemporary novels. His first large sized novel “Waiting for the morning” (1966) deals with his teacher life. In his novel he glorifies the victory of moral maturity. He wrote about events which took place in Nakhchivan in the years 1918- 1919 in his novel “Place where the sun rises” (1976).

He revives the life story of Ajami in his novel “One tenth of the century” (1987), Huseyn Javid in his novel “Slander” and Uzeyir Hajibeyov in his story “Undying songs”. He published a lot of story books as “Gulzar” (1958), “Zarifa’s flowers” (1960), “Sweet memory” (1968), “Nobility” (1979), “Story of spring” (1958), “Love of pigeon” (1964), “When you are mistaken” (1985). He was elected the deputy and then the chairman of the Nakhchivan ASSR Supreme Soviet. Now he is the deputy of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Supreme Assembly. He was decorated with the “Honour” order of the Azerbaijan Republic (1999).

 

Gaziyev Heydar Ahmed (28.5.1909, Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region – 3.3.1988, Baku)- veterinarian. Candidate of the Veterinary Sciences (1949). Honoured veterinarian of the Azerbaijan Republic (1955). He graduated from the Transcaucasia veterinary College (1932). He worked in the responsible positions in the Nakhchivan ASSR Soil Commissariat and in the head veterinarian office of the Azerbaijan USSR People’s Soil Commissariat (1932-1960). He was the vise-chairman of the Council of the Ministers of the Nakhchivan ASSR and the Minister of Agriculture between the years 1961-1966. He worked as a scientific secretary of the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Veterinarian Institute in 1966. He was elected the deputy of the Nakhchivan ASSR Supreme Soviet (1962-1966). He was rewarded with orders and medals.

 

Gazibeyov Reshid Semed (1926, Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region - 24.12.1989, Nakhchivan). He entered Krosnodar Military College but he went to the front voluntarily without finishing it. He was decorated with the third degree of the “Great Patriotic War” order, “Gold Star” order and a number of other medals.

After graduating from the Moscow Supreme Party College (1964) Gazibeyov worked in higher position, as a chief editor of the newspaper “Sharq kapisi” (1965-1970), as a secretary of the Nakhchivan Province Party Committee (1970-1971), as a vice chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (1971), The Minister of Culture of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (1977) and as a chairman of the Trade Union of the Nakhchivan AR (1978-1989).

 

Mamedov Ali Jalil (1898, Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region – 1968 Nakhchivan). Socialist Labour Hero(1949). He worked as a chairman in the Azerbaijan collective farm in the present Babek region in the year 1928-1953. He reached high indicators in sheep-breeding in 1948. He was elected the deputy of the Nakhchivan ASSR Supreme Soviet and then the member of the Nakhchivan Province Committee. He was decorated with “Red Labour Flag” order.

 

Mamedov Firudin Ibrahim (1936, Shakhtakhti region of the present Kengerli region)- specialist on information theory. Doctor of technical sciences, professor (1996).The corresponding member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (2001). Honoured Scientist of the Azerbaijan Republic (2006). He graduated from the faculty of Power engineering of the Azerbaijan Institute of Industry (present Oil Academy) (1958). He finished the post -graduate course of the Scientific Research Project Institute and the he worked in this university as an engineer and chief scientist (1958-68). Then he worked in the branch of the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute in Sumgayıt as a headteacher, senior lecturer (1968-70), dean (1971-74) and as a head of department (1974-85). He has been head of department in the Azerbaijan Institute of Industry (the present Sumgayit State University) since 1996. He hold investigations on information theory.

 

Mamedov Hasan Hajimamed Huseyn (5.6.1912, Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region -16.6.1985, there) Socialist Labour Hero (1949). He is the participiant of the Great Patriotic War. He worked as a collective farmer, a teamleader, a chairman and as a brigadier in the collective form named after H. Javid. He reached high labour indicators in tobacco-cultivation.

 

 

Mamedov Huseyn Abdulla (15.5.1906,Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region-31.5.1972, Naxchivan).Socialist Labour Hero (1949).He worked as a farm manager in the collective farm named after Kalin between the years 1934-72. He reached high indicators in sheep-breeding in 1948.

 

 

Mamedov Arif Huseyngulu (2.11.1929, Shakhtakhti of the present Kengerli region-1989, Honorary Cemetery) - social-political figure. Honored Engineer of the Azerbaijan USSR (1981). He graduated from the Naxchivan Agriculture Technical School (1954). He worked as a head of the Naxchivan Province Meat Purchase Office (1961-62), as a director of the Naxchivan Meat Enterprise (1962-63), as a deputy chief of the Meat-Milk Industry Office of the Azerbaijan USSR people’s Agriculture Council (1963-65), as a deputy of the Minister of the Azerbaijan USSR Meat-Milk Industry Office of the Azerbaijan USSR People’s Agriculture Council (1963-1965), as a deputy of the Minister of the Azerbaijan USSR Meat-Milk Industry (1965-1968), as a director of the Baku Meat Enterprise (1968-1971), as a Minister of the Azerbaijan USSR Meat-Milk Industry (1971-1985), as a vice-chairman of the Azerbaijan USSR State Agrarian Industry Committee (1985-1987). He was rewarded with the “Red Labour Flag” order, the “Nations Friendship” order and with the Honorary Decree of the Azerbaijan Republic Supreme Soviet in the years 1971-1980. He was elected a deputy of the Azerbaijan USSR Supreme Soviet in 1975, 1980 and 1985.

Mirzayev Yusif Veli (23.5.1958, Boyukduz village of the present Babek region -19.2.1992, Agdere)- National Hero of Azerbaijan (posthumously). After graduating from the Azerbaijan People’s Agriculture Institute (the present University of Economy) (1987) he worked as a head inspector in Baku Central Deposit Bank till 1990. He was arrested and estranged from his work by Commandant of Baku because of taking active part in national movement and on the eve of the January 20 tragedy. He was called to military service in 1991. A great lieutenant showed an example of heroism in Goranboy and Agdere fights and he lost his life in one of this battles. His bust was erected in Nakhchivan and school №44 was named after him.

 

Resizade Abdulla Meshedi Kulu, Haji Molla Abdulla Sakhtakhtili (1843, Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region-?, Nakhchivan) - intellectual man, religious figure. He is H. Javid’s father. He was born in the family of confessor. Haji Molla Abdulla who was a famous confessor of his time moved to Nakhchivan in 1877 together with his family. He had a pleasant voice and the read elegy. S.A.Shirvani highly estimated his talent in his letter written in verse “to Haji Molla talent. Poet went to Turkey and got his education there on his father’s behest.

 

Resizade Arthur Tahir (26.2.1935, Ganja)- statesman. Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1971). He is T.Resizade’s son. He graduated from the Azerbaijan Institute of Industry (the present Oil Academy) (1975). He worked as an engineer, a head of department and an assistant director on scientific issues in Azerbaijan Oil Machine-building Institute (1957-1973), as an assistant chief of the Oil Machine- building Union (1973-1977), as a director of the Azerbaijan Oil Machine-building Institute (1977-1978), as a vice-chairman of the Azerbaijan USSR State Plan Committee (1978-1981), as a head of the Azerbaijan Machine-building department (1981-1986), as a vice-chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan USSR (1986-1992), as an advisor in the “Economic Reforms Foundation" (1992-1995), as an assistant of the Resident of the Azerbaijan Republic, as a deputy of the Prime Minister (1996). He is the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan from 1996. He played great role in strengthening our statehood. He was rewarded with USSK orders and medals.

Resizade Sheykh Muhammed Haji Abdulla (15.3.1878, Nakhchivan - 24.12.1939, there) - enlighter, teacher and poet. He is H. Javid’s elder brother. He got religious education in Tabriz, Urmiya and Tehran. Though he got religious education, he was one of the creators of new schools in Nakhchivan and began his pedagogical activity there. He gave Azerbaijani and Literature lessons at secondary and technical schools. He was the teacher of the president of the Azerbaijan Republic Heydar Aliyev and scholars: Y. Mamedaliyev, Hasan Aliyev, Mamed Jafar, Abbas Zamanov. He was also a talented poet. He wrote poems calling people to education and culture. Sheykh Muhammed knew the Persian language, wrote poems in this language and translated parts from Firdovsy’s “Shahname” to our native language. He held investigations about Firdovsy. He played a great role in collecting Nakhchivan folklore. He exposed to persecutions after Javid’s arrest. His literary inheritance is now kept in Javid’s memorial house.

Resizade Tahir Sheykh Muhammed (1907, Nakhchivan - 1942, Krim) - agriculture specialist, agronomist and poet. He is H. Javid’s elder brother and the Prime Minister of the Azerbaijan Republic, A. Resizade’s father. He got his secondary education in Nakhchivan. He graduated from the Azerbaijan Institute of Agriculture. After working in Ganja for a while, he was appointed an assistant director of Lankaran Subtropic Plants College. He lost his life during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). He was indulged in literary activity. His poem are selected with their romantic scope, harmony and new style.

 

Seyidov Mirheydar Mirabbas (1884-Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region - 17.4.1953 Boyukduz village of the present Babek region)-Socialist Labour Hero (1949). He worked as a herdsman in the “ Azerbaijan” collective farm from 1928 till 1954. He reached high Labour indicators in sheep-breeding. He was rewarded orders and medals.

 

Seyidov Hasan Hemid (16.5.1923, Shakhtakhti of the present Kengerli region - 3.6.1997 Baku). Honoured Lower of the Azerbaijan Republic. He graduated from the faculty of Law of Baku State University (1952). He was a member and vice-chairman of Nakhchivan Supreme Court, a chairman of Nakhchivan Supreme Court, a chairman of Nakhchivan Province Trade Union, first secretary of Sharur Party Committee and from 1974 till the end of his life he worked in responsible positions in the Ministry of Justice of the Azerbaijan Republic.

 

Shakhtakhtinskaya Adile Isasultan (17.4.1894, Tbilisi – 30.3.1951, there)- gynaecologist. Doctor of Medical Sciences (1930), professor (1936). She is I.N.Shakhtakhtinsky’s daughter. She worked as a head of the gynaecology department of the Azerbaijan State Medical University (from 1933). Her investigations were devoted mainly to woman hygiene and eclampsy.

 

Shakhtakhtinskaya Elmira Hebulla (25.10.1930, Baku - 13.10.1996, Baku, Honorary Cemetery) – artist. Azerbaijan Republic People’s artist (1977) and Honoured Art Worker (1963). She is the daughter of H.B.Shakhtakhtinsky. She graduated from the School of Arts named after A. Azimzade (present Academy of Arts, 1950) and Moscow Institute of Art named after I.Surikov (1956). She is the author of placards and worktable drawings. Peace and labour are one of the main themes of her creative work. She created a gallery of portraits of the middle century’s scientist and cultural workers of Azerbaijan (Nasireddin Tusi, Mesheti Genjevi, Imadeddin Nesimi, Muhammed Fizuli, Ejemi Nakhchivani, Sultan Muhammed and others) and contemporary craftsmen (U. Hajibeyov, H.Javid, S.Vurgun, S.Bahlulzade, K.Karayev, F.Emirov and others) in her placard range “Azerbaijan is an ancient land of culture”. She exhibited her paintings in different countries and cities. She was decorated with “Honour Mark”


Shakhtakhtinskaya Leyli Isasultan (1886, Kars (Turkey) - December 1907, Switzerland) – one of the first educated women of Azerbaijan. She is a wellknown publicist, scientist and social figure. She is I.N.Shakhtakhtinsky’s daughter. She graduated from Tbilisi Girl Institute in 1902. She is the first lady from Azerbaijan who went to Eastern Europe for her education. She entered Switzerland Medical University in 1904, but she died 2 years left to her graduation. An obituary was published in the journal “Molla Nesireddin” (1908, №52).

 

Shakhtakhtinskaya Zehra Mustafa 17.11.1895, Khanchendi - 16.9.1977, Baku) – zoologist, helminthologist. Doctor Biology Sciences (1953), professor (1954), Honoured Scientist of the Azerbaijan Republic (1960). She began her practical activities as a teacher in woman gymnasium in 1916. From 1922 till the end of her life she worked in the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute (the present ADU), first she was a dean and after 1937 a head of a zoology department. She is the author of a number of scientific works and textbooks. She played a great role in preparing scientific cadres. She was rewarded with Lenin order.

 

Shakhtakhtinsky Behbud (1881, Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region – 30.5.1924, Tbilisi) – diplomat. In 1905-1907 he took part in creation of office workers in Baku. He was the member of an extraordinary commission of the Baku Soviet Executive Committee and chairman of the “Government” Central Committee. He presented report about Azerbaijan and events in Caucasian, Turkey and Iran to V.I.Lenin in 1920. He was elected a member to the second congress of the Comintern. He worked as a chairman in Nakhchivan Revolution Committee. He played great role in signing Moscow and Kars pacts which played great role in acquiring autonomous status Nakhchivan within Azerbaijan.

 

Shakhtakhtinsky Ebulfet Nejefkulu (October, 1858, Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region – 13.3.1913 Georgia Kutaisi) - serviceman, colonel (1912). He was one of the organizers of student disturbance in Peterburg and he take active part in the organizations of students getting education in Peterburg and Moscow. He entered Peterburg Institute of Technology in 1877, but in 1878 he was driven out for instigation students to abandon meetings. He entered Lazarev Private Institute of the Eastern languages. But this institute didn’t give Germany and got diploma. He was battalion commander in Russian – Japan War. In the last years of his life he was busy with Literary activity. He translated “The Sorrows of Young Werther” by Johann Wolfgang Goethe from German into Azerbaijani.

 

Sakhtakhtinsky Hebibulla Bakhsheli (9.9.1900, Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region –22.9.1986, Baku)- chemist (analytic and inorganic chemistry). Doctor of Chemical Sciences (1949), professor (1950), Azerbaijan Republic (1974). He graduated from the medical faculty of the Azerbaijan State University (the present Baku State University (1926) and the faculty of chemistry- technology of the Azerbaijan Polytechnical Institute (1930). In the years 1930-1972 he taught in the higher educational establishments of Azerbaijan, he was the head of chemical analysis department in the Azerbaijan Polytechnical Institute and the head of the analytic chemistry department in the Azerbaijan Institute of Industry (the present Oil Academy) (1937-1959). He worked as a head of the Laboratory of the Inorganic and Organic Chemistry Institute of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences in the years 1959-1986. His main scientific research work has been devoted to the practical and theoretical problems of analytic and inorganic chemistry. He is one of the first chemistry teachers in Azerbaijan. His textbook “Quantitative chemical analysis” which was published in 1937 is still one of the valuable aids that teacher and students use. He is the author of 7 monographs and textbook and more than 380 scientific articles. He played great role in preparation highly specialized cadres. He was rewarded with the October Revolution order.

Shakhtakhtinsky Isasultan Nejefkulu (5.7.1851, Irevan - 18.10.1894, Turkey, Kars) - journalist, scientist and social figure. He is E.N.Shakhtakhtinsky’s brother. He graduated from Tbilisi real gymnasium (1871) and Peterburg Tillaze Institute. He attended lectures on political economy in Paris and London (1872-1875). He defended the thesis “The role of forest in economy of nature and society” and got the diploma of the candidate of agricultural science. He knew Russian, Persian, English, French and German. He was the of the foreign policy department in the editorial office of the newspaper “Tbilisi vestnik”. He gave information about different calendars, holidays, administrative division of the Caucasian, geography, astronomy, meteorology and state Institutes and enlighters in the journal “Kavkaski calendar”. In his article “Crisis of East” he expressed his views about social-political and economical life of East especially about international relations of Turkey. From 1878 till the end of his life he works in Kars in administrative positions. He was highly cultured and noble person. Shakhtakhtinsky was one of the enlighters who did his best for junction of Eastern and Western historical-cultural regions.

 

Shakhtakhtinsky Muhammad Habibulla (10.07. 1932 Baku) –Physicist, Doctor of Physic-mathematic sciences (1970), professor (1971), member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (1989), Honored scientist of the Azerbaijan Republic (1991) . he is H.B.Shakhtakhtinsky’s son. He graduated from the faculty of Radio techniques of the Moscow Institute of Power Engineering (1956). He worked as scientific and senior scientific worker the Physic Institute of The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (1956-1967), head of the laboratory (1968-1987). His research work belongs to Physic of solids. He determined general conformity between energy spectrum and electron properties of charges in solids and indicated changing of clear situations independent on content of solution, possibility of explanation of dispersion amount of some anomaly , magnetoplasma waves. He took active part in the investigation of thermodynamics of semi-conductor, in creation of some original methods and equipments. Steels of high quality have been produced under his leadership. He read lectures on the rear of crystals in the international conference in France. He is the President of the Azerbaijan Physic Society (1991) and the vice-president of The Europe-Asian Physic Society.

 

Shakhtakhtinsky Togrul Nemat (22.10.1928, Baku) – Chemist , technologist , Doctor of Chemical Sciences (1968), professor (1968). He is the correspondent member of The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (1976-1972), scientist of the Azerbaijan republic (1991). He has graduated from chemistry–technology faculty of the Azerbaijan Institute of Industry (the present Oil Academy) (1949) and post–graduated course of Oil Institute of the Azebaijan National Academy of Sciences (1952). He was the head of laboratory in Oil Chemistry Process Institute of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (1962-1974) and during the years 1971-1973 he lead to Regional Scientific Center in Nakhchivan. He was academician-secretary of the department of Chemical Sciences of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (1973-1981 and 1990-1997). He is director of Institute of Theoretical Problems of Chemical Technology named after M. Nagiyev of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and chief of the laboratory of Oxidize Process (since 1975), head academician-secretary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (since1997) and editor of “ Azerbaijan chemical journal”. His main scientific works devoted to investigation of chemical reactions to genetics and mechanism, learning of catalytic conversion hydro-carbon in organic and oil chemistry-synthesis process, modelization and optimization of chemical process, extensive problems in connection with usage of theory basis of chemical technology. Shakhtakhtinsky is a notable scientist in kinetics and mechanism of oil chemistry, homogeny and heterogen catalytic reactions, theory and technology of non-fixed catalytic process and in field of bioorganic and fermentative systems. He is the author of more than 500 scientific works, also 11 monographes, 130 inventions and patents. He presented Azerbaijan science in International Congress and Symposiums in Germany, Romania, Japan, France, Bulgaria, Hungary, Turkey, USA, Dutch, Belgium. His works have been published in influential international scientific publishing houses (England, GFR, Hungary, Rumania and etc.)He has important service inpreparing of scientific staff and has been awarded with the Honor medal and Orders of National Friendship.

 

Shakhtakhtli Muhammed Aga Muhammedtagy Sultan (1846, Shakhtakhti village of the present Kengerli region - 12.12.1931, Baku) - publicist, orientalist, linguist, pedagogue and public worker. He was full member of International Phonetic Society (1899), International “Asian” Society (1990) and Caucasian Department of Russia Imperator Geography Society(1903). He is professor of Baku State University 1920. After graduation from secondary school in Nakhchivan and Tbilisi classic man gymnasium (1863). He learned Germany in Petersburg on his own. He has graduated from Philosophy, History and Law faculties of Leybzig University (1869). He attended lectures of Eastern languages in Paris during the years 1873-1875 and learned French language. He wrote literary and scientific works in Azerbaijani, Russian, Germany, French, English, Arabian, Turkish, Persian.

He began to his scientific activity with researches on Eastern History in Germany. Influence of liberal Narodism in his first published articles has been divined. He was M.F.Axundow’s follower. His first book “Improved Moslem Alphabet“ has been published in Tbilisi in 1879. He worked in “Moskovskie vedomosti” newspaper for a short period of time and worked as special correspondent in Istanbul. He has been appointed temporary editor of “Kaspi” newspaper in 1891-1893. He decided to publish newspaper named as “Tbilisi” in 1898 but char censorship did not allow to him and he returned back to Iran. He lived in Paris till 1902 and worked as a teacher in France college and Higher Practice Education School of Eastern Languages. In this period his published works in French were reasoned for discussions and arguments in Europe and American schools. He investigated phonetics under the leadership of professor P.Passive in Sorbano University and has been rewarded with the Honor diploma of the Ministry of Education of France .

In 1902 he opened special printing house in Tbilisi. In March of 1903 he began publishing of political, economical, scientific, literary articles in “Sharqi Rus” newspaper. This newspaper played special role in development of social thought in Azerbaijan. There has been attracted progressive minded man and journalists. Such creative staff played important role in the beginning of the new of press development in Azerbaijan (Molla Nassraddin). He has been selected deputy to 2 nd state Duma from Irevan Province in 1907. He worked in “Rosiya” Petersburg newspaper after closing of Duma. He participated in constitution of Baku State University and he read lectures on Eastern languages and Literature. He published articles in “Communist”, “Bakinsky rabochi”, “Kizil Sharg” newspapers. He participated in works of Committee New Turkish Alphabet. He was appointed individual pension in 1922. Famous persons of his period has highly praised his literary, scientific and journalist activity.
